Problem with internal central locking switch

Featured Replies

Hi there I noticed today that my internal central locking switch near the handbrake does not work anymore, it wont lock the doors, when i press it nothing happens? any ideas. my central locking works as the remote fob locks and unlocks the doors fine. I have a 1.9 tdi elegance 2004 54 plate. thanks

I've seen this before and it's just a case of replacing the switch. With some agile finger work it can be done without removing the centre console.

I've also seen that it can be the wire to it which gets trapped and cut by the handbrake.

In that case it needs a repair and reouting correctly so it is away from that area.

sounds like a dodgy switch and as shark 90 says it can be done if youve got small fingers and some luck, if the wire had rubbed through you would also possibly get problems with your global operations ie windows going down on there own etc
