Sunroof not closing flush & drivers window closing problem

Featured Replies

Hi. Firstly, done a search but can't find the info (amongst the tonnes of other useful info:thumbup:) i'm looking for.

Year 2000 Octavia Elegance 2.0i - i've had the (apparently) common issue with the sunroof plastic guides getting mashed up stopping the sunroof from closing. This was fixed by eventually ripping several pieces of plastic out which enabled it to close. It sometimes still doesn't want to close in one operation, and has to be done in stages - any ideas? I'm sure i got rid of all the loose plastic......

The sunroof also doesn't close flush and the rear edge is higher than the roof line, to the extent that there is a small gap around the seal which will let water in easily. I've not had any issues (so far) with water getting into the interior but would like to adjust it so it sits flush (and therefore seals) before i get water ingress issues.

Does anybody know how to adjust the sunroof?

Also, the drivers window rattles when its down, and dependant on weather conditions will either close easily or go slow and then stop and go back down again, and only close with a little help (pushing it up with my palm whilst pressing the button which makes me look like a right lemon in the works car park:rofl:). Is there a common problem to look for here?

Apart from these issues (and the antiroll bar bushes) the cars been pretty trouble-free over the past 9 months and 15,000 miles :)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dan.

Sunroof; no idea. With having the Climatronic I never use it.

Window: I think the part of the regulator that attaches to the glass is breaking up.

One thing I learnt with sunroofs, is don't use em!

Last four cars I have had all have had sunroofs, almost all used maybe once a year to check that they still work.

If you remove the plastic covers either side of the underside of the sunroof glass from inside the car with the sunroof on tilt, there are the sunroof glass attachment bolts that can be loosened and the profile of the glass can be adjusted. What you ideally want is the glass profile to roof to be flush at the front & 1-2mm high at the rear to eliminate any wind noise. Hope this helps, Nick
