HELP - Basic settings for 1.3mpi - felly won't idle

Featured Replies

Anyone know the procedure for basic settings for the throttle body and idle control in VAGCOM for a 1.3mpi ?

I'm in desperate need of them :(:o

Tom will know, I'm sure - there's something in his 1.4 16v transplant thread where he's set the new TB, but that may differ on the MPi ecu.

Hope so... my bloody motor won't idle for anything since I messed with the TB cleaning it.

dissconnect the battery over night.

reconnect battery and turn the key till all the dash lights come on and leave it there for a few min.

then start and take for a long(ish) drive.

that may well re set it.

Done that, or something similar, but no joy. All the digging I've done points to needing the basic settings doing.

All I've found so far is to do ..... "via VCDS - engine 01 - basic settings 04 - channel 01 - Go"

But that was from Tom's 1.4 build thread so I need to double check that would work for the 1.3mpi

Well just tried channel one and thats a no go. Anyone know what channel it should be for the 1.3mpi ?

Well, one thing: I've changed TBs on several MPi-engined cars a number of times, and never had a problem with it doing anything like that - they've worked fine.

What cleaning did you do? Are you sure everything's back where it should be and that nothing is leaking?

Ok, it's idleing now, but not nicely. Would still like to do the basic settings if anyone knows the channel/procedure it should.

;)Do those valve clearances first, if tight they might be contributing to your problem!

How would i do that ?

Have you got a haynes manual? It will tell you how to set them up - I did this on my Favorit, and it was a case of wiping the rocker cover off and doing them one at a time, with the valves in the correct position before starting.

is it a siemens of bosch ecu??

also it may take a while to settle down and it will certainly have to be up to temperature for it to settle completely

did you clean the throttle body with it still attached to the car? if so some of the carb cleaner may be down in the intake which will cause a slight missfire till it's burnt off the plugs

It comes up as simos in VCDS. The throttle body was off the car when I cleaned it.

It's either chanel 060 or 098 under basic settings 04 in engine 01.

nah it should be channel 1 with a siemens simos 2p unit

Just comes up with ERROR when using channel one. However, turns out my valve clearances were way out. After I sorted them the motor runs as sweet as a nut.

Thanks all for the help though

tbh the throttle bodyy should self adjust after a period of running anyhow (if you can get it to start of course :o)

Definately channel 098, I had to do one the other day.
