How many miles on your PD140?

Featured Replies

I know there is a general highest miler thread running but I'm interested to see how high the 2.0TDI 140 can go.

How many miles have you covered and what (if any!) major problms have you had?

Mine is on 65k with no major issues so far (fingers crossed!)

I'm starting a new commute soon at around 3/400 miles per week. I am really hoping it stays reliable and I intend to literally run this car into the ground as I am sick of losing 1000's in depreciation every 2 years!

Mines just short of 90K miles at 4 years old with no problems to report.

I have 262,000kms on mine, its had 1 DMF and 2 turbos, other than that I can't fault it. Make sure you do your oil changes bang on when they should be done (15,000kms) and use the proper spec oil. If you have to do a turbo at any stage, do not go the main dealer route ( I dont mean to offend any Skoda employee's, its just too expensive) use one of the established recon turbo company's (Turbo Technics). The PD140 is very economical and fairly grunty(even more so with a re-map).

Mine is on variable servicing, but I do an interim oil+filter change at 8-9k. This is my 7th VAG diesel and I havent had a turbo fail yet in 250k miles of accumulated driving. (Still got my fingers crossed though!)

I know many will say 18-19k per oil change is fine, but I just get more piece of mind from changing it sooner.

I'm fairly strict with the servicing myself, I would imagine my Turbo failure rate is down to the level and type of driving that I do, I'm a sales rep in Ireland and my territory is "Ireland".

The car gets trashed all day every day. I am averaging about 6000kms a month. Crazy.

Mine's on 141,000 miles now. No problems with the engine and it only uses about a litre of oil between services as it's done since new. The A/C compressor failed a few weeks back, but I think that may just be bad luck. No obvious performance differences since new and the economy is as good as it's ever been.

My PD140 is currently at 107,000 miles.

The turbo exploded at around 70,000 miles.

The flywheel and clutch were replaced at around 80,000 miles

Just had a new tandem pump fitted today thanks to poor starting since 44,000 miles.

It has been regularly serviced on QG1 variable at Skoda main dealers and had a new cambelt bang on 80,000.

The fuel economy has bever been very good, SWMBO's PD170 vRS does miles better MPG.

We have two in our house, my 05 Octy II on 54k and SWMBO VW Golf mk5 now just gone over 80k.

Mine is on 81,000 miles. (2004/54)

It's an ex Police Service of Northern Ireland marked police car so it's had a very hard 81,000 mile life. I know it had a new flywheel and clutch under warranty at 60,000 miles though. Other than that I have put a new gearbox in it and I'm on my second starter motor. I have had the car totally stripped down, resprayed and it currently is a VRS replica using genuine VRS parts.

Also needs a new passenger side wheel bearing (expensive part at £70 odd). Just waiting on it arriving now.

It seems to have an issue with the turbo/EGR cooler at the moment that will need looked at.

Mine was traded in at about 73k miles and had a new turbo at about 55k under warranty (just).

Mine's on about 90k. Owned since Jan 09 with NO Problems as yet,

55 plate just completed 41,000 miles. Remapped at 40,000. I have a recurring cold start problem which the dealer could never fix - seems fairly common. Had a new EGR under warranty a couple of years ago so about 20k.

Original Stream started failing just over a year ago - wouldn't detect CDs in the head unit and then wouldn't give em back when you pressed eject. Replaced with a much nicer Clarion unit.

Apart from those it's been right as rain. Intend to keep it for quite some time to come as it's the best car I've owned.
