strange noise

Featured Replies

Hi everybody. my 55 pate vrs fabia has a strange squeek/grating noise. it happens when i take my foot off the accelorator and lasts for a fraction of a second. the noise is not noticable at higher speeds but from 0 to 40 mph its noticable. the car handles fine and ive tried cruising in neutral an turning but get no noise and here are no noises over bumps. but have been getting a loud clonk at near full lock when parking which i assume is cv joint. could the pair be related. also how could i check the cv joint. thanks in advance for any help.

I would say probably the aux drive belt tensioner, or alternator clutch/pulley. Clunk from suspension most likely drop links or consul bushes.

Worn CV joint usually makes a regular clattering noise on lock - not a single clunk.

the noise has now started over bumps too and when turning the wheel while stationary. the noise seems to be coming from the passenger side . its not the cv for sure and can feel vibrations when touching the lower arm. the arb and the lower arm also slightly moves when turning wheel, is this normal. im thinking its maybe arb bushes.

Could this be the dog bone, or "keep it greased" gear box mount?
