Timing belt and service - advice please

Featured Replies

Hello folks,

I need a bit of advice please. I was going to get the timing belt and water pump changed in the October half term. Yesterday, the service indicator came on for the 2nd variable service at 34k miles. I have used the search function and can't really find what I'm after, so wanted to pick your brains.

Firstly, what needs doing on the 2nd variable service?

Next, I can't seem to find the timing belt kit on Awesome GTI's website anymore. Is there anywhere else to get the whole lot from including the metal impellor water pump?

I know I'm in for a bit of a costly hit very soon, but can't complain as in three and a half years the car has hardly cost me anything to run.

Also, this is a 'piece of string' question, but roughly what will all this cost?

Many thanks for any advice.:D

Hi

The web site is having a face lift just now ;)

Awesome > Water Pump with Metal Impeller GO4/TT/A3/Leon/Oct 1.8T

That is for the water pump

Myself I would do the do just the cam belt kit , with that water pump ;)

Thanks for the reply Sarah, I thought you were off on holiday yesterday?

Anyway, is the kit still available and how much please?

Thanks,

Andrew.
