Yeti diesel with DSG?

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has already been asked, but it's late in the evening, and I can't be bothered to trawl the threads...

When I asked my local dealer about whether the Yeti CR 140 and/or CR 170 would be available with DSG, he mumbled something about DSG for the 140, sometime next year. He absolutely would not be more specific than this.

Does anybody know more than this?

My local dealer has assured me I can order either a DSG 170 or DSG 1.8 TSI Yeti from January 2010 with a March delivery.

1.2TSI DSG production around Feb 2010

2.0TDI 140 DSG production around May / June 2010

Not aware of the TDI 170 or 1.8TSI having this option anytime soon.

Can anyone confirm that my local dealer is talking out of the wrong end then?

That's my plans put back a bit if so! :o

Think it was ANTS who first posted the info on build.

Info was in the form of a bar chart but cannot remember which thread it was in.

So we'll have to wait until this time next year to get the CR170 with DSG? if ever?

Oh dear, that's a long time to wait, edging back towards an Octavia Combi vRS again now!

Does always confuse me slightly how it takes them this long to come out with all the possible engine/transmission combinations with new Skoda models. Surely looses them sales, or do VAG hope that they'll go to another part of the family to find what the buyer desires? Bit difficult in the case of the Yeti, as it seems to be very much in a sector of its own!

This issue is not specific to Skoda; it is endemic within all Manufacturers; how many of the 'best' or 'top' models are available at launch on any model? Golf R26, Focus RS and Abath 500 are three that spring to mind.

But those are sporting versions of their modle ranges, all people here are after is an auto version of a car :thumbdwn:

On a linked issue, haven't VW had to recall loads of DSG equipped vehicles recently? Does cause a worry, even if they have a "lifetime" warranty.

Not that I've heard. Got any more info?

Its in another thread on this (Yeti) or Octavia II forum; not sure which.

Isn't the recall issue in America? 53,000 units or something. Trouble is, over in the US manufacturer's give longer/better warranties on various bits. Over in Europe, VW will tell you to swivel before you get anything.

I can only (cynically) assume the delays in DSG transmissions are due to the competition between the Yeti and the Tiguan. Anyone remember how cheap the Scirocco looked when it was released? Hearing its not so cheap now. I expect similar tactics with the Yeti. Looks a bargain at launch but give Skoda a chance to get a few on the road, a few incremental price rises and by the time the top end of the range is available with DSG that price gap to the Tiguan will close significantly.

Tiguan uses conventional torque convector box which is not DSG.

Having sold around +1.6m DSGs worlwide, failure rate is marginal... Not say to say that's acceptable but been blown out of all proportion by the US...as they have a habit of doing....

We are on our 3rd DSG equipped car and been more than happy.

I changed the oil myself on current car. Dead easy DIY job.

, even if they have a "lifetime" warranty.

Any idea what this means exactly, is it up to a certain mileage, or is it forever as long as you have it serviced every 40k?

Thx in advance.

I think they manufacturer say DSG clutches should last the life of the car. I've not heard they offer a lifetime warranty!

Yeti 2.0 TDI-CR 140 DSG 4x4 available from build week 22, 2010.

  • 4 months later...

This car will be presented at the Geneva motor show this week.
