Bolero Brightness Adjustment?

Featured Replies

Starting off to work in the dark , I noticed the Bolero display was too dim to be seen comfortably. When the sun came up the display brightened.

I've tried the obvious display menus but can not change the brightness ( bright , brighter and I forget what else). The panel light dimmer does not affect the display either. The manual does not seem to address this.

it is in the settings somewhere I forget where, think its the button on the top right beside the cd slot.

you can choose brightness levels in there.

"Both Columbus and Bolero have ambient light sensors, and automatically adjust the display brightness accordingly. Alternatively, you can manually adjust the brightness. The unit can also maintain different brightness settings for day and night driving (based on whether the lights are on or off).

Alternatively, you can specify if you want the unit to permanently use either day or night settings. I guess you could make the night setting use zero brightness, which would give you a near black screen. You'd then have to toggle it to day setting manually. This would still require you to press the 'SETUP' key, and then choose one other option on the touchscreen."

Quote from Bagpuss, a Superb owner. But I have never seen day or night settings in the menu.So am still puzzled.

Just checked on mine

When in Radio mode choose Setup then Display, you can then choose from a range of options from Brightest to Darkest. I have mine on Brightest and it seems seems to adjust as per light outside.

Can see no settings for Day/Night.

Well either its Columbus only or there is either a firmware update on the newer Boleros or my VW version has this disabled

Thanks for that. Have now set mine to Brightest.

But am I right in thinking that this only sets the night time brightness? The brightness of the daytime display seems unaffected by this fiddling.

Minimal improvement when set at "brightest" and the panel light thumbwheel now has a very slight effect on the Bolero.Still a pretty dim display in the dark but acceptable now (just).
