Windows going down by themselves

Featured Replies

Does anyone else have this issue? This has happened a few times with my car. I'm not really sure why. I know when I carry the keys in my pocket some buttons get pushed and the lights flash away in the driveway. I went out this morning though to find all 4 windows about 3/4 way down.

It did this one other time on me when I had the boot and the bonnet open at the same time. I thought it strange at the time but maybe it has a mind of its own and just wanted some fresh air!

Yes, if you hold down the "open" button on the key, the windows will roll down until you let go of the button. The reverse happens with the "close" button. Quite a useful feature, but not if you keep sitting on your keys!!!

I have to say my missus thought it was fantastic when I showed her....................and the windows!

sorry chaps but ther is a known issue with some octys. the global opening facility looses the plot and sends the windows down by themselves. it can be caused by faulty/ trapped wiring under the center console, it normaly has to be programed out though

Ha ha! Awesome - never knew the car could do this. Just spent the last couple of minutes playing. :D

On a more serious note though, I imagine this is annoying and quite dangerous as your car is unsecured.

Reminds me of Alfa 156's - a mates company 156 kept doing this and he'd come back to it parked in a car park with it's windows down. Great....

Bugger....will go do it now. :D

I too love finding out little things like this. It's a novelty each time it happens. :D

My old PD140 did this, I know you can hold the button down etc, but it happened a couple of times on it's own. I posted on here about it a couple of times, once I came out from my hotel room found all 4 windows about half way down and it had peed down in the night.

I've read about wiring being chafed/ damaged behind the centre console and it affecting various things somewhere I'm certain. Trying to find it....

For a security POV, pre 53 Mk1 owners should get this disabled via vagcom as well as galaxy/sharan etc due to a known security issue in locks on these cars.
