Blocked EGR valve

Featured Replies

My 06 vRS died on me today during normal driving and now it wont start. The recovery guy said that it was a blocked EGR valve and just needs cleaning out. However, after searching through the forum it sounds like it could be a blown turbo. Anyway, its being towed to the dealers tomorrow so i will find out either way.

Lets hope it's just the EGR valve then.

it may well be blocked, how many miles? but that wouldn't prevent starting, but it may well contribute to the ASV sticking shut and that would, but can be manually pushed open to get you home, keep us posted:)

Just to conclude this thread. I got my car back today from dealers after them having it for 3 days (don't ask about the previous 3-4 weeks, total disaster). Anyway, the problem was indeed a blown turbo (i think it was described as "exploded") with bits getting into the air intake pipes. The intercooler also had to be replaced. Now for the good part. My car is an 06 vRS, with 27k on the clock and 7 months out of warranty. The dealers paid 100% for the parts goodwill, leaving me to pay for the labour (£207 inc vat). Unbelievably good customer service really, and the car was also washed (and the handbrake tightened!). Very pleased with Sinclair Skoda Swansea!

Thanks for the heads up. Nice to see some dealers giving excellent after sales care.
