warranty direct anyone?

Featured Replies

Hi,

The warranty on my fabia is about 6 months from being gone. Has anyone tried companies such as warranty direct who for a premium will extend the warranty on the car? or would i be best to approach skoda to extend the manufactures one?

Thanks

Ben

Hi Ben,

I have used Warrenty Direct on my VRS since i brought it in Aug last year and they have been pretty good. Got a good deal when i phoned them up. Bit cheaper than the std quote on the net. Got a new oil sump fitted and got the money back within 4 days so not too bad. Thankfully thats all that needed changing.

it's worth comparing Tesco Warranty too, quite cheap and 3 different levels of cover available.

Try Tesco, they sell a rebranded version of the Car Care Plan warranty - this is the same as the extended warranty that Skoda dealers sell under the Skoda brand name. In fact CCP are behind most of the 'branded' manufacturer warranties. They are ultimately owned by General Motors finance division and have a pretty good reputation for paying out (well, better than most of these warranties anyway!).

Warrenty direct do some good cover, I looked at this when the fiats warrenty ran out in april, for £400 I could get cover for everything, INCLUDING wear and tear, so a gearbox/turbo whatever, at 90k would be replaced at no cost to me,which is great cover.....

then I thought, well what have I had done in the last year? EGR valve, and a wheel bearing on warrenty, so I figured thats much less than £400 to replace, so took a gamble and didn't renew.... april to oct now, and no probs, 85k and counting.... If I make it to April with few repairs, I'll have saved circa £400......

Any one who works in the Civil Service its worth joining the CSMA as I got the top level cover from Care Care Plan for a very verycheap price, that includes cluch plate cover:thumbup: I worked out that the cost of a replacement turbo ect it was worth the gamble.

Also get cheap insurance and breakdown cover through the CSMA:thumbup:

AA used to do similar - got asked about it by them few years ago -quote was very good .Possibly RAC do something similar .From previous experience something to look out for is what is NOT covered - e.g .-- coolant /antifreeze in cases where some part of cooling system fails ,or oil if sump fails etc etc and how many garages will do the job and bill warranty company direct .Admittedly only time I used it was several years ago on a Ford .Found only place that would stand up and say that coolant in foot well was definitely a failure of heater Rad, which was covered by warranty without asking for an investigation fee was a Ford main dealer and they did all the work ,from examination /dealing with warranty co to billing them .

Just looke don the tesco site - says closed to new customers :(

Hmm anyone know any that cater for 100k + cars? :(

Warranty direct don't do 100k+

I just got a quote from WarrantyWise. My car has done 101k. I liked their website and quote seemed OK. Not sure I should go with them though. Read some bad reviews about them: hard to get to speak to an operator, not paying out valid claims. Could be money down the drain.
