Rattle from front passenger door area...

Featured Replies

....pretty sure it's nothing in glove box, occurs with window down or up, anyone experienced this and know a cure?

Otherwise it's a trip to the dealers...

Mine is doing it to0 or was until the nice guys at Rivervale did a bit of digging. Turns out they reckon its an "unidentified foreign object in the front box section" They went fishing but couldn't find anything so shoved an airline in the various orifices (cough) and it looks as if its now lodged itself somewhere where its not making a rattle!

Probably one of the spanner monkeys dropped a rivit when they built it.

If its under warranty take it to the dealer and let them drive themselves mad finding it!

Is there a know issue with rattling noises in the Octavia aswell?

My drivers door rattle was due to there being an 'unused' pop rivet, the type used to rivet the speaker in place, being stuck between speaker magnet & door bar, inside the door. I had to drill out the speaker rivets to get to the area. Unused rivet spotted & removed (must have been stuck to the speaker when installed in the factory). Now 100% OK!

I guess I should have let dealer sort it out, but past experience of dealers (not just Skoda) & rattles has been a waste of time!

i suffered an annoying rattle from passenger side/glovebox area. turned out to be the fan in the heater motor which had come loose and was rattling around. might be worth checking.

Tell the wife to keep her mouth shut :D

If you keep sunglasses in the roof-mounted sunglasses holder, check it is not them that are the culprits. I had the same very annoying 'left-side' rattle which was cured via another thread on here suggesting it was the sunglasses box!!! Have now lined the glasses holder with some plastic foam and the problem has miraculously vanished - hooray!!!

I have had something similar, turned out to be the Torx bolts at the rear edge of the N/S front wing.

I traced it by banging the outer panels of the car with the butt of my hand, simple job to remove the wheel arch liner, then quick tighten of the bolts, 10 minute job.:D

Cheers all, I'll empty the sunglasses holder and if it still does it, it's off to the dealers!

Well I never...... whipped sunglasses out of there and my rattle is gone, ta very much!

For weeks I had a nasty scraping noise when turning sharply. Like finger nails scraped on dashboard plastic. searched high and low. Checked seat bolts --steering wheel cowls--had front end up to listen for noise going from full lock to full lock. Wife listening in rear footwell. The lot. Nothing.

Drove me barmy.

Found it, Steering wheel is not round. Not far off but not round. When the wide part passed my belly it rubbed on my belt buckle. When the narrow part went past it didn't.

And it got worse as I slumped down in my seat as the journey went on.

And it has slightly roughened the rim of my wheel as well.

Who'd a thunk it.;)
