Clutch? 2002 Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

Right,I'm a proud owner of a 2002 Octavia VRS.Out doin the shopping with the missus literally 2 hours ago.

Driving out of the car park, and came to a halt.

Went to put it back into the gear,It simply refused.

Car will go into gear when I turned off the ignition,I managed to get it into reverse and with the help of 2 lads got into a parking space.

What am I looking at?

Clutch?

has the pedal gone soft ? or gone to the floor

Pedal seems fine,I can engage reverse and use it.

Just no forward gears

There was a comment floating around here somewhere about someone who had a component (a pipe I think) fall in the engine bay and cause an obstruction with similar consequences.

I have a problem with going from 2nd to 1st gear unless the car is just about at a standstill. It is the only problem with gears i have and the garage say they will have to strip down the gear box and re-build it at a cost of 600 quid!

Does anyone know anthing else this could be as it on happens some times and only when doing about 5mph?

gear linkage?

Had a similar problem a few months back when I was unable to drive through injury for a couple of months.

father in law took it for a spin and whilst out lost all gears but managed to scrabble it into a drivable gear with engine off started with clutch in and straight off to garage they looked over it and sprayed so lubricant on linkage??? Not had a problem since

I did the exact same thing this evening, got it into 2nd while off, turned her on and drove it the 3 miles home,(like a granny)

If thats the issue that doesnt sound too bad, fingers crossed

One sick octy!i think i know yourself from boards,

Garage has said that the car needs a new clutch and he recommends a new flywheel aswell,he can get the parts which will cost me 600 euro.

Im hoping I can source them cheaper from the UK

An upgrade sachs clutch and flywheel from Jabba is only 400 sterling!!

I'm afraid I'm never on boards. Try octane.ie for a look around. Or vagdrivers.net
