Hi guys, I'm looking at getting a Fabia Tdi Elegance estate

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I currently own a 306 td but it just doesn't have enough boot space now we have a new baby. For this reason and after much thought and debate I've pretty much decided to try and find a Fabia tdi elegance estate. This car pretty much ticks all the boxes that I can think of.

I would consider a remap if it makes a big improvement to both economy and power. I'm not too concerned about the power but as my other car is a 350 bhp Evo I'd prefer not to be too frustrated with it.

Is there and Skoda specialists in the Yorkshire area where I can go for servicing etc? I've had some really bad experiences with main dealers with regards to the Evo so now use an Evo specialist and I would never take it anywhere else now.

Is there anything in particular I need to look for when buying apart from the obvious FSH?

Thanks in advance guys.

I bought my wife a Fabia Tdi Elegance estate a few years back, it has all the goodies, heated seats, cruise control, electric windows (front & rear), air-con, 6cd changer, central locking, parking sensors etc, etc. I got it remapped and it now has VRS performance (140bhp), it returns about 50mpg on average. Plenty of room for two baby seats on the back seats and a good sized hatch back, plenty of space for buggies etc, enough space to comfortably carry our two fully grown Labradors in there. All in, it's a great "mums taxi" economical to run, comfortable and with a bit of go in it when you need it.

Good choice !

I have a petrol 1.4 16v elegance estate, and with two young kids it can still cart all the gear around, and you feel in relative luxury because of all the little extras.

I was looking for a 1.9 diesel, but found it harder to find a nice example (the estates tend to get more use and abuse) and ended up with the petrol as i ran out of time when car hunting.

The only real niggle I have with the car is the handling and grip levels are not good, but I moved from an Audi A£ with full sports suspension, so the comparison is probably pretty unfair.

Whereabouts in Yorkshire are you, it's a pretty big place!

I have a 2002 Elegance TDI Estate which I love to bits if your buying one witha few miles on it worth checking that the timing belt has been done if it's coming up to 60,000 if not make it a negotiating point.

The Combi makes a really handy little workhorse, but I wouldn't discount a Comfort / Ambient as far as spec is concerned as they have most essential bits of kit (some miss out on roof bars and air con though)
