Factory fitted tow bar electrics

Featured Replies

After the recent thread about these systems not being fully wired, I wrote to my dealer, asking why this wasn't done. In view of the post problems I e-mailed it. Appreantly it didn't arrive!!

So, today, spoke to dealer, and have worked out why it works like this.

The guy was reading from his computer record, shwoing my details, and it syas that I ordered a tow bar with SEVN PIN ELECTRICS!

After much discussion, including me explaing the difference between 7S, 7N and 13 pin electrics, we have agreed to disagree. He reckons that all cars would leave the factory with the same wiring, I maintain that Skoda UK are guilty of sharp practice, by putting a 13 pin socket on, but wiring it non-standard.

He has asked me to find the part number for the conversion kit!!

Thanks, I read that that this morning, and this is what worries me. It seems that skoda have not only re-written the 13 pin standard, bt done it in suah a way as to make 'upgrading' to and effectively twin socket arrngement.

If I can't get any sense from Skoda I am tempted to get the local towbar specialist to fix it, rather than lay myself open to ransom by the dealer, who openly admits he doesn't know much and they don't do many!!

:rotz:watch out for the CAN bus wiring as you will need a bypass system, if Skoda fitted the extra pins in the socket and left the wires behind then it would just be a matter of connecting them up ( pins 10/11/12 ) one is a spare but the other 2 are the earth and switched ign feed, and you pay the factory £350 for the towbar and part electrics
