rear engined skoda

Featured Replies

Smudgers Dad had a 136 Rapid (?) which they put twin webers on. He said it was great fun on damp roundabouts. Car died due to blown headgaskets (lots of them) and in the end started getting more expensive to fix (one head had "bowed" so that needed fixing), it was red with gold alloy wheels. They found a company who did GRP Bonnets & Bootlids together with perspex windows as well. He will try to remember who did the roll cage as well :) Its why he likes rear engined cars now :)

Just spoke to Slacks, and they say it is a rapide...they want

details ?

Its a P reg 1.6 mpi.

Lowered 60 mm all round.

15 inch Adikt speedlines.(did have bigger but I thought it looked daft and did not handle as well)

Induction kit.

Full powerflow exhuast.

Strut brace

Grooved and vented front discs.

And lots of what I call little differences, interior trimmings, body trimmings, wheel arches, front valance, boot spoiler, polished rocker cover, after market ht leads.

65,000 miles and a full service history.

And its that maroon/purple colour.

I either sell it or put a VR6 in it.

Piccies really do it justice, as its what I call subtle, most people dont think its a felicia and I have never seen anotrher one like it. I will get some up asap.

Cheers

Guy.

4000

think this is more in my price range

anyone know if this version is rear engined and would be easy to maybe change to rally spec :D

IIRC they used the 4 door Estelle for rally competition cars. It would be great to do a 'replica' as long as it's done properly - ie: using the correct body parts and not halfords add ons! :D

With a car as cheap as an Estelle you might as well find the most solid example you can (low mileage/rot free) - strip it back to the shell and rebuild sorting any problems along the way.

If you put geniune bits to the right spec (such as a proper FIA rollcage etc and not a cosmetic one) then if you decide to use it competitively you won't have wasted your money. :)

I'm sure the Skoda Owners Club could help you track done the proper bits and tell you the specifications of the original rally cars!

If you're interested I've got a mint 136 Rapid I need to sell to finance a 130 RS rally car project. Its advertised in the National Skoda club mag and I'm looking for a lot less than Slacks

rally spec meaning maybe stripin it out to make it lighter new engine...then i remembered im 17 so insurences gonna say no no so restoreing it diffo i once helped restore a mg midget to i kinda have some experience in that field

Rally speccing it would be classed as modifying it.

That is difficult at 17.

restoring it is bringing it back to how it came from the factory.

No addition to the insurance for that.

Only thing that will increase when restoring is the actual value. And even then it will be worth (for insurance) less than second hand Fabia 1.2, but will look so much nicer.
