TDi Decat

Featured Replies

I've done lots of forum searching and Googling for info on Decatting a 110 TDi but can't seem to find alot of info. I'm led to belive that passing an MOT will be no problem with or without a cat. If so, this leaves me only one question, of how to go about doing it?

Are there any manufactuers out there who supply decat sections? How much would I be looking at?

Is it just as productive but cheaper to knock the inside of the current cat out? How easy is this to do?

I'll be attempeting either method within the next few weeks. I would be very greatful if anyone could perhaps provide a few under car pics of how where and how the cat is attatched. It's apparently got a flexi bit and sounds a little confusing!

Thanks.

The Miltek Decat system is excelent quality although the decat pipe is larger than the OEM system so you will need to buy the whole system, well worth the extra shove:thumbup:

My whole system might be up for sale in a couple of months.

Could be interested then! Hmm that doesn't look like it could be an easy job ramming out the innards of the cat with the bend in the pipe. Do you know the width of the standard pipe? just cutting out the cat and clamping a sleeve over appears to be the best option other than buying an entire system then.

1 1/4" or 2" inch i would imagine, i think the miltek is 2 1/4"

Was it worthwhile tevor?

Likewise I went to my local custom exhaust place and they fabricated a "bolt-in bolt-out" de-cat section for my mk1 Fabia vRS for a whole £80.

It makes a great noise and just feels as if the engine is "breathing" (out) a whole lot easier

Very tempted to get one done for the Roomster too

Just curious about the effect on the emissions test at the MOT. Last MOT the result on mine (with CAT) was an average of 1.89 against a limit of 3.0

How must headroom is there to run without a CAT?
