Hi Guys

I recently had a really bad experience with an DSG 06 Octy 2 when my Duel mass flywheel went caput after only 2 weeks. of ownership. It really put me off the car and ruined my holiday. (I had to be towed home)

The dealer took the car back, but it put me off Skodas for awhile. However, I've just spotted a rather nice Octy 1 diesel that is also automatic.

Can you guys tell me if this model has DMF issues on the auto box like its newer counterpart? And before I go look at the car more closely, is there anything else I should be aware of?

I think that there are some problems with DSG...one of my colleagues has a MkVI Golf which is 4 weeks old and is currently in the garage awaiting a new gearbox. He has since discovered that a large number of cars have had to be recalled in the USA for faults on the DSG gearbox.

I think that the MkI Octavia auto is a more conventional auto box with a torque converter rather than a flywheel and clutch, but I am sure someone with more knowledge on the subject will be along shortly.
