Sandtoft Sun 18 Oct

Featured Replies

Just realised it's the St Leger road run 11.30 tomorrow from Doncaster Aeroventure to Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum. Obviously the run is aimed at cars (& buses & trucks) over 20 years old. But it's worth a gander at Sandtoft which is open to the public.

Just hoping that my work phone stays quiet as I'm "on standby" for tomorrow.

Well I've been out again today in old blue.

There was a gathering of 20 or so classic cars

& a handful of trucks & buses at Aeroventure.

Then it was convoy time, to Sandtoft.

Upon arrival at Sandtoft there were more cars,

buses & trucks lined up in the event field.

I drove the trolleybus circuit in the one of the cavalcades,

giving a fellow DTCC member a lift, his Jago Geep,

not fitting the 60s period for the photographers.

For the next cavalcade I was a passenger in a 1956 Austin,

owned & driven by one of my father's friends.

An excellent day out, with lots of interest generated by old blue,

dozens of people peering at the badges in disbelief.

One person amazed me by saying that he used to own an old Octy in the early 70s

and even wrote technical articles for the SOCGB club newsletter at the time.
