Parking Incident.......... Tracking problem...

Featured Replies

Here we go...Yesterday whilst reversing out of a parking space in Tescos, I had a minor incident with a bollard. I some how managed to reverse out and hit the bollard square on with my nearside front wheel, luckily avoiding any body damage. :)

Problem is, it has knocked my tracking out of bonk, the steering wheel is now off centre to the left when going in a straight line.

My question is, what can have been knocked out of bonk as everything is bolted up as it should, and nothing obviously bent?

I will get it booked in for a 4 wheel alignment, but surely adjusting track rod ends at this stage is hiding the real problem as the track rods have not shifted, but something else has?

Any tips would be much appreciated!

In answer to your question its the things that you can't see or that aren't obviously bent, (also known as the the expensive bits) that may be causing your problem. If I where you I would have it checked out with a reputable garage rather than your local kwik fit for tracking.

Definitely get it to your Skoda dealer and properly checked out, from experience it is amazing how much gets moved if you catch it just wrong, even at low speeds. Tbh, you'll probably be ok but the suspension mounts etc. can be moved if the wheel is caught at the wrong angle.

I was going to tell him to PM you Al, the master of understatement :rofl::rofl:
