Engine Stuttering and power faliure

Featured Replies

I recently got hold of a mate with vag com and it showed a missfire on cylinder 3 so i replaced the spark plugs and replaced the coil pack on cylinder. I only changed one coilpack as i checked the rest with a multimeter and they were ok.

I drove it less than a mile tonight and it seemed fine but then it started to stutter and the power totally died and the engine management light flashed for a while but it was still running but would barely do 20mph.

Then it finally died when the revs dropped below 1k.

It took a few minutes to start and i had to keep my foot to the floor....

It feels like itmay be being starved of petrol??

Can anybody shed some light on this??

Thanks

Dan

Are the leads definitley on ok? Dad had this on a different car - Hyundai, with the engine light flashing and loss of power after changing the leads and driving 40 miles. He pushed the leads on a bit firmer and all was ok.
