New intake for TFSI vRS from ITG(lots of pics)

Featured Replies

to be fair the TFSI engine as a whole is a very ugly engine with the engine cover off, still who drives with the bonnet up, lol.

with your car @stage 2 the CAI wont need the map adjusting @ stage , whereas when you have your stage 2 map installed they can adapt it to make best use of what you have

Believe or not I once had a show car with a clear perspex bonnet, but the engine looked fab!

Not sure I understand your answer regarding the remap, mine is stage 1 (remap only) with evoms going on next week!?

corrected, it was meant to begin with your car @ stage 1

I only bought the code red on looks, up close the ITG looks better when you see the attention to detail on it. its undoubtably performance over form though in comparison.

my spec is as per my signature below. I do however need an intercooler as my inlet temps sky rocket when im in traffic. looking into getting water methanol injection though before that which should cure it a little as well as giving a very nice performance gain.

just waiting for quotes back on fitment etc.

Cheers matey, thats what my tuner's have said, which is against the info given by most on here. To be fair I would tend to believe the tuner, especially when they are effectively doing themselves out of £££'s for an unnessecary upgrade.

You can see where the air is coming up from just below the headlight. I am planning on removing my headlamps and fitting ducting form the resulting holes, so that i can even colder air blasting it from below, as well as cooling ducts for my brakes.(but i am pretty sad, so theres no need to really)

I'd be wary of doing this; wouldn't it allow water and/or spray into the intake area? Not that desirable.

How about getting some ducting to link from the OE intake 'scoop' on the front (giving good ram air feed) and through the 'heat shield' - that should give you loads of fresh air?

no issues with water getting in there, the unless im in water up to the headlights, water cant splash up from underneath cos i have the plastic sheet under the whole engine bay, the only thing that is getting to that filter is air. I had thought that initially.

you can see the whole where the air comes in below. And that is about 6" above the fog lights, with the filter about 3" abovethat so i thin we should be saf from water.

youp can see the filter is about level with the headlights

i think water is more of an issue on a stock intake TBH. think of all the spray on a wet motorway smashing into the grill and maybe into the intake(this is why the stock scoop has the slot cut outof the bottom)

edit - think i misread you there, its the ducting you are talkng about. ive binned that idea, instead im looking into some of these below, they will allow alot of extra air there making a cold air high pressure zone around the filter.

ignoring the rest of the gash kit, this is what they would look like either side of the grill. they should allow alot more air in

I take your point. :-)

I've seem the lower grille replacement and cooling duct intakes before; they could well do the trick!
