Want to order a Octavia vRS but my local dealers don't seem to want the business!

Featured Replies

I found the same issues, even after a test drive, I ordered via Drive the Deal in the end.

yes me too was so annoyed by local dealers attitude when I said look I want to buy but this is the price I have found on the internet can you match it?

You would think I had swore at them, one even went red in the face.None of them would entertain me. So DTD it was and I have to say I enjoyed it knowing I was getting the best price without any of the arkwardness of trading remarks and listening to Its not just about the price its the service we offer!"

Another vote for Jewsons of Oxford where I got mine from.

Stuart is the fleet manager but was the person available when I first came in, and he immediately suggested I arrange a test drive - unaccompanied and for a couple of hours.

Also a mention for James at Allams of Epsom who posts on this site and certainly believes in his product.

You have to be able to put a value on the "local" factor.. To buy from DTD you will be an anonymous customer dealing with an anonymous dealer. Also keep in mind that there will be a delivery charge to Scotland (or the cost of hiking south to pick it up.) There are several dealers in Scotland who are now wakening up to dealing with enthusiastic cutomers who buy VRS and high spec models rather than just churning out poverty spec Fabia's and Octavia's. The salesman at my local dealer is a VRS owner and his enthusiasm is real.

A personal visit and a chat over a desk will always get you a better response than a faceless phone call or an a-mail.

Bathgate is pretty central and there must be a dozen dealers within 90mins drive from you.

Good luck

I would normally agree and believe me I tried all my local dealers in and around Edinburgh and none wanted to talk about the DTD factor. The costs for me was £45 BA flight to London £3.50 tube ride 5 min enjoyable walk into dealer. I was offered coffee and given a complimentary full tank of gas to get me up the road. Following a gentle run up to Edinburgh I was home for 9pm agreat little road trip. It was no dramas and would not hesitate to do it again. I never felt I got a second rate service every time I called for update etc.

I had the same problem with local (i.e. Scottish) dealers - they were not in interested in trying to match DTD - some didn't even bother to respond to my enquiries. I ended up bettering my DTD deal by going to Carfile and look forward to picking up my new VRs in January (fingers-crossed!).

I phoned them and was very impressed with there service, dont know why I never used them to be honest, out of curiosity what was the difference was it just a couple of pound? Never checked the price difference in the end, why I will never know.

When it came down to it was only about £100 - but I have to say the service thus far has been faultless. The dealer has been brilliant, keeps me informed regularly regards build weeks etc. Was really helpful and apologetic regards rear heated leather seats that you could configure for the VRs but then couldn't order! OK, I have to travel down to the Midlands to pick it up, but the best quote I got from those dealers up here (Scotland / Central belt) who did respond to me was more than £1000 more. I'd certainly recommend them.
