Want to order a Octavia vRS but my local dealers don't seem to want the business!

Featured Replies

I am wanting to purchase an Octavia vRS on a Personal Contract Plan (with various optional extras - Bi Xenon, Maxidot etc etc), but despite contacting my local dealers on numerous occasions none of them have got back to me with a quote.

Does anybody know of any Skoda dealer in the UK that would be willing to take my order and deliver the car to Scotland (Bathgate)?

I can't believe that my local dealers don't seem to want the business!

Try Progress Skoda in Letchworth. I think the salesman I spoke to was David Scott. Communication with him was excellent. I was enquiring about purchase however not PCP. This was June 09

Just a thought, but how are you contacting them. Many dealers, not just Skoda, have not grasped 20th century communication, let alone 21st.. so seem to completely ignore emails... this was incredibly frustrating for me when I was trying to sort a car when returning from the US. As they make more money on a finanace deal I'm surprised they're not ripping your arm off...

Hi,

Try Jeremy Taylor at Rainworth Skoda (Mansfield) 01623 623400.Good bloke & do some cracking deals, i believe they would deliver for a nominal fee.Good luck.

I would recommend Anthony or Alec at Hobin Skoda Manchester on 0161 707 9000

Must be a nice position to be in when you can afford to turn business down.

Saw it recently, last week, when a friend of mine attempted to buy an Audi TT. We're talking £34k here so it's not messing about it's big money, the salesman got all cocky saying when you've found your best price come and see me etc, too late - Deal was done and the salesman sick as a pig.

I think the problem is they don't know if the sender of an e-mail is a 12 year old and the only result of the enquiry will be another brochure to add to his collection...:)

That can easily be resolved by politely replying to the email (which is the first step often missed!) and asking if they could contact you by phone or for you to drop into the dealership. I know I wouldn't have a problem with a response like that - I often use email in these circumstances just to get the ball rolling.

There's plenty of good Skoda dealerships around who would be more than happy to help you. I would personally suggest the sales team at Simpsons in Colne, or the Preston dealership in fact. I would think any decent dealership wouldn't have a problem at all in transporting the car to you. Or even better, come down to collect it and get some valuable running-in miles under your belt on the way home

I found the same issues, even after a test drive, I ordered via Drive the Deal in the end.

I guess we just have some pretty reasonable dealers round here then, thankfully - looking at the balance nationally!

I just couldn't imagine that situation happening myself. Very sad state of affairs, especially in these tough economic conditions at the moment. Confused and seemingly unnecessary, all at the same time

I think it always helps to know a name when contacting these places.

I personally had no troubles when purchasing my new vRS from Henrys in Kyle Street, Glasgow.

I dealt with Graeme Whitelaw, from sales, who was always willing to help and explained the finance to me so I was in no doubt as to my options.

Kier Dunlop is the sales manager of the dealership. I'm sure if you need anything further he'll help -both guys stayed back after shutting time for 2 hours one evening answering all my questions and organising the car I wanted.

I'd be happy to purchase my next Skoda from them and I think that always says a lot about a company if you would return custom.

However, do swot up on the best prices for the car before starting so you know what to rattle out of them and be prepared to wait a while for a new vRS as the waiting list is rather extended just now.....

hope it helps:)

I'd make the Drive the Deal site my first port of call then see who can match it...really makes no odds where the car comes from...the local dealer has to service it (unless you chhose to go elsewhere for that too)

I used a DTD quote to get almost £3k off my wifes Mazda 5...if the local dealer hadn't matched it - DTD would have got my business - comms were first class & very honest.

You have to be able to put a value on the "local" factor.. To buy from DTD you will be an anonymous customer dealing with an anonymous dealer. Also keep in mind that there will be a delivery charge to Scotland (or the cost of hiking south to pick it up.) There are several dealers in Scotland who are now wakening up to dealing with enthusiastic cutomers who buy VRS and high spec models rather than just churning out poverty spec Fabia's and Octavia's. The salesman at my local dealer is a VRS owner and his enthusiasm is real.

A personal visit and a chat over a desk will always get you a better response than a faceless phone call or an a-mail.

Bathgate is pretty central and there must be a dozen dealers within 90mins drive from you.

Good luck

I emailed 3 localish dealers, one in Edinburgh, one in Broxburn and one in Bannockburn.

Not one replied to any e-mails.

I decided to visit the dealer that I'd heard good reports about (West End Skoda in Broxburn) and went armed with DtD prices etc.

Dealer was very good and done me a good deal on the price and trade-in. I would recommend them despite not replying to my e-mail.

Should now have my car in 2-3 weeks

The Octavia doesnt have bi-xenon lights.

I did all my dealing with Steve from Pant Waen over email, the garage is over 60 miles away from where I live, although I go that way some weekends. The only time I visited the garage was to sign the order and collect the car and Steve was off both times!

Having purchased my last Octy 2 from Steve, at least I I have met him!!

Local dealer unfortunately wasn't prepared to go near the DTD prices, because "DTD are quoting prices so low they must be making a loss on the vehicle".

I wasn't born yesterday !!! :rotz:

i have used Jewson in oxford for my company car via leaseplan.

Although not a private purchase and less profit for the dealer, Stuart has been excellent, always giving me time when I call, and keeping me informed.

Any dealer will deliver to mainland uk so scotland should be no problem.

It's a long way from you but worth a phone call askinf for Stuart Rolfe.

good luck:thumbup:

I used DTD. They were excellent and arrange free delivery!

I will second that as I have ordered my car with Jeremy after he come back with a very competitive price over the phone that nearly matched DtD, recommended to me by another user on here, so do your research online and as said earlier in thread go armed with your best prices

There are quite a few other dealers mentioned on here that would happily take your business with a smile and a warm welcome.

Good luck:thumbup:
