Overdosed but what a result.

Featured Replies

Shopping in Asda last night i spotted a bottle of Redex diesel injector cleaner £3.60 what a bargain

I only had half tank full of diesel in car and the bottle clearly stated only use half of the bottle to 50 litres of diesel.Well got bit carried away and stuck the half measure in to my half tank full .Considering it was only serviced 500 miles ago and had a new fuel filter also i wasn,t expecting much difference but i was wrong. It certainly cleans out alright and what a huge difference in performance and no more flat spots.Goes like hell now  well for a 1.9 anyway.Just thought i would report this as i don,t usually use Redex but i didn,t have any Millers left.I expect it will blow up now as its high on this overdose :rotz:

I have been "double dosing" with Millers for about 80,000kms now, I wouldn't worry about it. I have also switched onto Wynns SuperPremium Diesel as Halfords where clearing it off for 1.99 a bottle so I went around 4 branches and cleared there shelves of all the stock (25 bottles), I do about 1500kms a week so I'll be through that lot fairly quickly and I'll be back to the Millers.

I have always avoided that kind of stuff as the manual state's you shouldn't use them, maybe I am being over cautious.

You should try the Millers, I think you will be surprised at how much better the trottle response is. I think there are way too many people on here advocating the merits of Millers for there to be a problem with it. I will be filling my thank today for the 4th time this week, I think if the additives where going to cause a problem, it would be rearing its ugly head by now !!!

Where does this thread lead when all the "so called" scientists at Which magazine state that all these additives are a complete waste of money??.

Or is it just the placebo effect ??

This was discussed at the time, and the consensus was that they probably ARE a waste of time, if you're already using 'performance' fuel (which they also deem to be a waste of time!) However, it was also pointed out - apart from the fact you can't necessarily expect results from on tankful - that modern ECUs aim to 'standardise' the characteristics of the fuel in terms of the way the engine performs, so you may not see any difference for that reason, rather than because the characteristics of the fuel aren't any different. FWIW, I use Millers for the 'protective' additives that the supermarket fuel I buy doesn't have, rather than because of any expectation of better performance...

Not driving a diesel any more, but another vote for Miller's (diesel power sport). There's no way it's a placebo effect - it made a very noticeable difference to the performance and seemed to reduce black smoke quite a bit too (non-DPF car)

You are definitely not over-cautious, as the manual also states the change your f*cking oil

hahahahahahaha! I'm glad you haven't forgotten Babs!

Ask any mechanic worth his salt about "additives" and the response will probably not be polite. These are unnecessary and potentially harmful to your engine.

Up to you but perhaps you'd like to do a little research on "Slick 50" and read some of the horror stories

this isn't what's being discussed barbie

I don't think he's ever going to :).

I use Millers, and I'm sure it's made the car a little more responsive. There's definitely less smoke.
