centre armrest,cruise....newbie

Featured Replies

Hello to everyone have just changed my car and joined the Skoda family,I have a 2006 Octavia sport 2.0 tdi and have a few questions for you knowledgeable lot.

My car is a grey/ blue but does anyone know the correct name for the colour

I miss having a centre armrest/storage,is it possible to fit a jumbo box to the car or some kind of armrest from a vw/audi family car that fits or is there another solution.

I will also in time want to fit cruise and i know there are people on here that can do this,i live in Pontefract,is there anyone near there who can do this or recommend someone nearby, how much is the unit to buy by itself

I know this topic has been done to death but I want to connect my ipod to the stream head unit,it has no aux but a cd changer,is there a lead that i can use to connect in place of cd changer which will also charge the ipod,I can live without control of the ipod through the stereo and would just use the ipod itself

Very happy with the car which is doing 52 mpg and a revelation.

thanks and I apologise in advance if there are too many questions in this thread or they are in the wrong places

I can probably help with a couple of these :)

Fairly easy to retro-fit a jumbo box - it must be as I managed it :P They come up fairly frequently on eBay so you just need to be looking out for them - expect to pay somewhere in the region of £60 - £120 depending on how lucky you are. Other than that try to find one breaking. It will cost an eye-watering amount of money from a dealer. If you take the plunge a few people here can supply you with the schematic.

There are other non-VAG solutions but it involves drilling holes in your car to mount and I personally wouldn't go for one.

Not sure if other VAG cars would fit - someone else might pipe in with this info.

Shark performance (one of the sponsors here) do cruise retrofits and they're in Mansfield - not too far away from you. I think the stalk itself is around the £100 mark but you'll need to talk to them for fitting costs. Look up Briskoda member 'shark_90' but I'm sure there are others up your neck of the woods.

Yes - there are a few options and even full control is possible nowadays I believe. Have a look at the 'Dension' range - you've just missed out on a group buy for one of the new Dension products which interfaces with your stream unit, but I'm sure the aforementioned Shark_90, who organised the group buy, will give you a good price.

There's also an MDI gizmo available in the for sale section I think which does similar, but I don't know too much about these.

HTH.

Welcome to the site by the way :)

Regarding Jumbo boxes superskoda had some lookalikes that fitted on the existing centre cosole.Could the colour be stone grey ?.

See link below to Golf Mk V cruise control, which apparently fits a Mk 2 Octavia (at least I'm hoping it will, as I've just bought one) £49.99 + £5 delivery

How much would the coding be to enable the cruise control?

Are you going to install yourself??

coding is very easy.... engine ecu and steering wheel ecu.. 2 minutes...

Nope - I'm getting mine done by said shark_90 - I'd suggest you possibly send him a PM for a quote.

I've read the instructions which come with the stalk, and it's not something I'd do myself - but then I'm about as technical as Eddie the Eagle doing a ski jump :o

I have just dumped a jumbo box, as it only had the arm rest and the metal frame no sides or back to it

Is there a guide of some sorts on how to retrofit a jumbo box?
