Featured Replies

Hi all

think the turbo has died on my Fabia vrs. its under extended warranty. its been towed to Skoda (Plymouth)

its done 71k

any chance of a warranty job in your opinion?

if not has anyone got a turbo for me?

Thanks

Jake

Fancy telling us why you think the turbo has gone? If you have warrenty then surely you know if its covered or not :S

Theres one for sale in the automotive parts section... think he wanted 250, or 325 fitted (Y) bargain

asked for power on the slip road, and go nothing, shortly followed by a loud whirring noise, managed to limp off the A38, into a street where it died... The pipes are all connected, and it was dark so i couldn't see the smoke.

just spoke to the warranty company who confirmed it should be covered, just waiting for the dealership to ring. Fingers crossed.

£325 fitted = bargin!

Thanks

fingers crossed itll just be the boost pipe at the bottom of the engine, hard to see at night and with an engine tray in the way.

Yep - as said above. Near impossible check at the roadside that one, as I know personally

Needs the engine tray off and jacked up/on the ramps. Also, a diagnostic VAS/VCDS scan should yield more info too.

as i said, all the pipes are on! checked in the morning after i rang Skoda assist, who sent a very helpful RAC bloke out!

*Awaits phone call from skoda tomorrow morning*

So the car's been jacked up, engine undertray removed and inspected from the bottom up?

Ah well then - fingers crossed on the warranty outcome!

Just out of interest, would the boost pipe at the bottom of the engine cause the car not to start?

No, not in my experience. It will start, but the car will be effectively in non-turbo 'SDi' mode!

It will also sound quite 'throaty', especially if you blip the throttle. Those were my findings when a pipe disconnected on mine anyway.

Steve

Mine did cut out with the pipe off but it would start, and like Steve says its very throaty and even more aggricultural.

Thanks guys. Mine sounds a little more serious than a disconnected pipe then. I did start a thread a couple of weeks ago when my vrs died and the car is finally due to be looked at on the weekend (after 3 weeks!). I will update the original thread when i know more.

mone was the turbo, under warranty. £1350. Lucky

i should say

Good to hear it got sorted :)

eeek 1350 thats alot!

good on you for the warrenty

If I was faced with a 1350 bill for a stock turbo I would go out and SAVE money getting a vnt17 hybrid! Can easily get one and fit it for that kind of money.
