Shocked With Fuel Efficiency!

Featured Replies

The roof rails on an estate will make a small difference I would imagine, but they're fairly aerodynamically efficient in my book, well - as well as they can be!

HTH,

Steve

Thanks for clarification, my poor English doesn't always help :D

Any idea on how to cover the holes left by roof rails removal?

TIA,

Not a problem :)

Unsure about the holes. Wonder if there are covers available from Skoda?

Steve

My car is highly modded with a ko4 turbo etc making 324bhp. Coming back from the UK doing a total of 450miles i averaged 38mpg and on 1 tank with 30-40 miles still left in it.

As a followup, I've read on a bimmer forum someone happily covered them with vinyl... mumble, mumble..

Regularly got over 40mpg on my mk1 1.8T.

Wish the 2.0FSI could do near that!

When will this old fashioned MPG be replaced by the ultra modern l/100km?

Is there a rule of thumb for calculating one into the other?

Rather than old fashioned, it's simply UK system (miles, gallon).

Several conversions available here:

HTH,

Although HP is liked more because the figures are higher there is a broad acceptance for kW. Which is a SI-Unit like l and km.

But this is OT.

i managed to get into the 50's a while back on a 9-10mile drive to work, quite often see 37-45mpg daily.

But that was comp rather than real mpg ;)

I got 55mpg out of my CR VRS on the M4 M25 M20 on a 330 am run down to channel tunnel that was at 70mph set on cruise control .Once in France it dropped to 43mpg on a run to Paris at around 85mph.
