QWii-er bashing

Featured Replies

Having read the AV thread I was surprised to find how many closet Qwii-ers there on the forum. Whilst the Xbox and PS fans constantly fight, this Qwii-er lot get away scot free so I thought it was time to lay into them too.

I'll start, it technologiacally stunted and bloody expensive for what it is.

Hmm , smilies don't seem to be working.....

Just imagine there's an abusive smiley there...

I have all 3 and they each have their good points and bad.

Xbox 360: GOOD for Forza, Splinter cell, Test Drive, Fable. Hand controls are well made.

BAD for ring of death?, Noisy as hell, Controls are heavy, only plays normal DVDs has a mahoosive power pack

PS3slim GOOD plays Blu Ray, GT5 (when they get their a55es into gear), GTA 4, silent, well made, light controler and rechargable, BBC i player, the home thing, can play with PSP, awsome Gfx

BAD controler is not as well made, cant play PS2 games

Wii GOOD well made, Family fun games, interactive, brunswick bowling, Wii fit, forgot that its also a game cube.(what fun it was playing in the Falklands)

BAD its not really a seriouse games console, its a fun thing

thats my take on it and I like them all for what I got them for.

To be honest, i always thought the Wii was 90% rubbish, 10% genius.

I had one for ages, and hardly used it. Some of the Wii Sports stuff was fantastic, but most of the time, the games felt like they were traditional games, fudged onto the Wiimore.

I know soo many people with them, who never use them, except for 2 days after the next big Nintendo release. And due to the owners not being regular gamers, they havn't figured out they can trade games in, so they just have tons on money sitting on shelves they never use.

I think things will change next year once Microsoft/Sony get their gesture controllers working. Im hoping that developers actually make decent gesture games, that proper gamers want, because on the rare occasion that the Wii got it right (i loved Wii Sports Boxing), it was amazing.

I'm actually slightly annoyed. I asked swmbo if she wanted to get a Wii last year, she said no. Eventually I bought an Xbox360 for myself but now she says she wants a Wii.

If I had known that I wouldn't have bought the Xbox360 and bought the Wii instead. But my 360 has now been, shall we say, 'tampered' with, its not easy to pass it on. Grrrr....

It is , you just need to sell it in the appropriate place.

I assume it can be disabled as on the older X-Box?

Which model is it?

Its only 3 months old, no receipt, warrranty seal is broken - as I said, tricky

The dvd drive has been flashed to allow 'backed-up' DVD games to be played. Not sure on the exact model but when it was bought in Aug it couldn't be flashed but since then the method has become available.

I'm told that provided you play original games on XBL its fine and you would only risk being banned if you play back-ups and even then the risk is small. But I'm taking someone's word at that. Not really a problem for me as I'm not online (yet)

But the lack of warranty is probably the biggest problem

PS2 also has a tiny control pad.

Then again I loved the original Xbox pads. But I don't have hands like a Japanese school girl!

We had a wii for a while. Eventually, it got played so little that we were scraping the dust off it when we wanted to play. Fine to pick up for a quick nonsense game, but SWMBO got fed up of that relatively quickly, and all the time I was playing it I just wanted to hold a proper controller and not wave my arms around like a loon.

If you had an early PS3 you could play PS2 games.

Also, Xbox has GTA4 and the add-on packs... so you can get rid of that.

And Xbox has Sky Player (or will have )

You will find, I think, that quite a few Wii owners also own another console as well. For me it's a PS3 :)

Steve

Wii and 360 Here, did have a PS3 at one point but did not get on with it so sold it to Mater :D:D

And Xbox has Sky Player (or will have )

I'd try it online with a PC first, it's really not that good.

Plus you need multiroom or sky's max broadband otherwise it is an extra £10 a month to use, plus you can only watch certain channels and a selection of pre recorded shows (some of which you are charged extra to watch) from the packs you subscribtion has so you need the sports pack to watch the football on sky player.

I've got everything bar sports and movies on Sky and I'm on the top broadband, so it's not an issue :)

Girlfriends got a Wii

Played it constantly

.... Until I got a PS3 now I think its rubbish.

Not rubbish... just different.

Well that's why I've got both anyway :)

Yeah but you want another one don't you .........

Just got Wii Fit, and still loving our Wii.

Great fun when friends or family are around.

I'd have to argue the well made comment at 13 months old my Wii developed the common noisy drive syndrome and now wont load anything from disk.. all because of a rather obvious design flaw, the wii now has a 1Tb USB drive attached.. ;)

TBH the only times I play on the Wii is when we have some friends round for a drink, I spend all my time on the PS3. :D

just bought a Wii yesterday - should I be depressed????

don'y think so, not really into console game, and son hasan x thingy in any case. SWIMBO wanted the Wii fit bit :confused:and must say I am enjoying the Sports

just bought a Wii yesterday - should I be depressed????

Sorry but yes

Nah just kidding ......Enjoy it:)

Wii resort is very addictive and competitive!

all mine are holdin up well mind I dont play them all the time, just get spouts on them ie I am into the PS3 now. will prob go back to the 360 to play fable and test drive again for a change, and I go on the Wii fit a bit with the missus.

the wii is still sound and its well over a yr old now.

I like them all they all have thier uses, just a shame the 360 is so noisy!
