first service cost - good or bad?

Featured Replies

Just had first annual service, fixed interval (only on about 6700 miles) but had fully synthetic oil. (1.8TSi hatch)

Cost £130. What do you think? Good, bad or indifferent!?

not brilliant but not bad

Seem people stung for more.

Sorry to butt in but I thought better this then start a new thread on a very similar question..

Car is approaching its first service at nearly 2 years old (new from Nov, variable servicing) having covered 11,500 miles of mainly long distance trips.

Have been quoted £145 for the service but advised I also need a brake fluid change at £50.

Am also looking to change to fixed servicing due to the lower miles I drive. Should have gone petrol.....

Firstly, without my service book to hand, is the brake fluid change necessary, is the dealer correct? And what do you think of the prices?

Thanks

I seem to recall brake fluid change is indeed a time related thing not distance related.

Re: fixed or variable, I always like to have an annual oil/filter change anyway, and doing low mileage I have fixed.

But I was told (by this forum) to have the dearer oil for this car, because of the turbo. (On my old FSi non turbo, doing about 8K a year, I had fixed with semi synthetic Millers oil, which was very reasonable and seemed fine.)

Re: oil, I have to remark that this car used practically none, from new till now.
