New car care

Featured Replies

I am expecting delivery of my new Octavia last week November/first week December, the build date being week 45.

My question for you smart guys is;-

Should you really wax and protect a car upon receipt bearing in mind that it was only made at the beginning of November, Has the paint had time to 'cure' yet ?

I am reminded of my very first car, an Austin A40 which was purchased in 1962, I was told to was it in soapy water, leather it off and the wipe over with two tablespoons of paraffin in a pint of warm water to protect the paint, no chance of doing that now then!!

Yes, most definately..something durable as we're entering the winter months..Collinite or Zaino spring to mind.

You don't have to worry about the paint curing, as an example I've been working on the front end of a car which was resprayed at the start of the week - wetsanded, machined, sanded some more, polished some more, IPA'd then waxed..no worries:thumbup:

The above being bodyshop rectification:rolleyes:
