new EGR fitted

Featured Replies

After I had the engine management light come of it was found to be the EGR, it was removed and cleaned but without success, so fitted a new one £100 all in.

The car now seems to have more power or could it be that I became accustomed to the car for the last 10,000 miles with the light on

I noticed that the inlet manifold was caked up before the new EGR was fitted so got a wire brush and gave it a quick clean then turned the engine over to blast the cr@p out

It even idles smoothly as well now

I cleaned out my inlet manifold and EGR a while ago, the crap thats in there is unbelievable but its a job well worth doing.

As you talk about the inlet manifold, all the loose rubbish you loosened went into the engine, and hopefully came out again?

I was thinking that too.

I've also just replaced my EGR valve, after it started blowing copious amounts of oil out of its casing (no fault codes). Aswell as getting rid of the oil running out and down the back of the engine, its also helped a series of rapid hesitations whilst accelerating gently up a incline.
