i turn my PC on and boots up fine...loads windows fine... connects to the net fine...now after doing all that has a nap for 5-10mins...no matter what i click on it just doesn't load..even if i click on restart or turn off it doesn't...then will load everything in the order i clicked and restart if i clicked that (learnt not to do that now i just wait) and for the rest of the time its on never plays up !

have run spy ware and anti virus checks all clean...

all service packs installed..even number 2....and totaly up to date !

ideas please anyone??

EDIT: whoops should have been posted in Drawing room ..my bad

I had a similar problem, on an older PC where the thing would work for 20 -30 minutes before slowing and sometimes crashing. It was traced to a faulty fan, which cause the thing to overheat, and I had to wait till it cooled down till it worked again before the whole cycle begun again! Don't know if it is similar as I'm no computer expert.

You're not running ZoneAlarm by any chance, are you? I've had ZoneAlarm do this to my laptop before I uninstalled it.

Do you keep ALL your temp files to a minimum.

Remove temp internet files, keep your recycle bin empty.

After that run a Defrag on your HDD, If you have never run 1 it will probably take a while to complete.
