ScratchX 2 vs ScratchX

Featured Replies

So what's the difference.

Can ScratchX 2 actually have any effect on the harder paints on BMW's and VAG etc or is it no better than version 1, which was useless on the above paints IMHO.

I found Scratch X with a 4" cutting pad to cut through the furby's paint like butter. So I wouldn't say it was useless imo :)

It does nothing on solid BMW paint or metallic VAG paint for me.:thumbdwn:

The v2 worked fine on the scratches on my metallic stone grey Fabia  (I assume that counts as VAG?)

This was on black magic paint and it worked great. I was using a high speed on the porter cable and it worked well. I was using it in the sun and I could clearly see the marring and swirls disappear as I was polishing

I should have asked, are you polishing by hand or using a machine? Perhaps by hand it would be tough as would any polish, but using a machine polisher and a 4" cutting pad it eats through the clear coat very easily. So easy in fact that you have to be careful not to remove too much!

By hand it does nothing, but others (3m extra fine) work just fine. The scratchX tube actually says by hand for the instructions.

FWIW, if you use a PC with a cutting pad and just last touch (no polish), it will cut paint, so I don't know how much of what you noticed was down to the scratchX.

Yeah, I've tried the V1 and wondered if the V2 was any better or if I'd be throwing more money away.

Haven't tried the v1 but the v2 definitely worked on my Fabia (applied by hand using a cotton rag, and buffed with a microfibre pad). :)
