Did you happen to sell this to a really tall guy called Mr. Cook?

If you didn't tell them about these issues wait for them to turn up on your doorstep expecting money back, lol. Plenty of buyers like to do it apparently.

A friend from work even had a garage call him back on the monday afternoon after he had traded his car in on the saturday to say that they had found a long list of faults on his old car and arguing the car was not in the same condition it was when the trade in was agreed.... he ended up taking the new car back and telling them to shove it.....

They do it hoping you'll send some money their way to shut them up. Quite common sadly, but then a deal's a deal - sold as seen - all trades are final and that sort of stuff.

I thought it was going to be a thread about someone nicking it! :D

Well I hope its fixed up before its driven again :)

So you sold it on in that condition??

Suppose, 'sold as seen' and all that - plus buyer beware....

You mean they don't leave the factory like that??:rolleyes:

guy who bought it said he had previously had 6 saxo vtr's and knew all the regular faults to look for. I reckon from that that he had enough knowlege and ability to get the thing sorted and through its next MOT at reasonable cost - my local garage reckoned it needed about £600 spent if they were doing it.

Buyer didn't even ask to drive the car. I listed all the faults and also what had been done recently. answer to every thing was "they all do that", paid his money, was given a sold as seen receipt and was gone:)

was originally going to list it as "spares and repair" for a couple of hundred but thought I'd take a cahnce and see what happened. Buyer was made aware of the, gave a good check over and appeared knowelgable - as you say "buyer beware"

that might have been plan B:rolleyes:

Fair play to you - points for trying and clearly worth trying it, over the 'spares' route....

I worked at a dealers where they accidently took a car in as a trade in, with no engine! It was delivered on a low loader with the driver saying it had broken down on his way to pick up the new car. The dealer was so keen to get him to sign off his new car and get it registered they agreed he could have it brought in by the AA. It was very funny to see the saleman’s face after he took a jump start pack to try and get the traded car going. The previous owner had removed the engine and g/box prior to the drop off.:D

That's impressive work! Like that, with the salesman done up like a kipper :D

Bet he got some stick for that one!

I think it is fair to say we didn’t let him forget it. Neither did his sales manager either!:D
