2 Remote key fobs failed - what can I do? Help please

Featured Replies

I have to use my key to unlock the car before I can open the door.

So what is the problem with that someone will ask. Well, I use to open it by pressing the button on the key remote and the car doors would unlock.

This has now failed on both sets of keys. I have tried various re-programming suggestions based on the Octavia and Fabia suggestion. However, no luck with that.

So without heading down to the local dealer and parting with my hard earned cash. (£130inc VAT for 2 new transponders at £40 each & 30 minutes labour), is there anything I else can do or check?

I do intend to keep this car for another 4-5 years.

Your advices would all be very much appreciated.

Thanking you all in advance

Happy Driver

Its not the transponders that need changing - they are the bits that talk to the security "engine blocker", it will be the remote lock/unlock blob that Skoda are offering to buy in for you.Maybe cheaper to buy a single new bit via ebay, just in case its something else that is faulty.

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so before you spend any money anywhere.

If you'd like me to take a look at it I'm just in Mansfield and will be much cheaper than Skoda!

"it will be the remote lock/unlock blob that Skoda are offering "

Okay, so this 'blob', it is not receiving the same signal that my transmitter is sending out to the car - hence it does not lock and unlock.

As one key failed originally and then the second key much later, I think each key transmitter has failed (but the transponder has not). Do I have to get 2 new key transmitters and a new 'blob', or just a new 'blob'?

But then how do I get it all programmed to talk to each other?

Shark90, your website has interested me, but I cannot see any performance upgrades available for the Superb...

Ooh, you're right. I'll order some lashings first thing tomorrow and get it added, thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery yet?

Just tried that. I had the +'ive of the battery disconnected for 15 minutes and no luck.

What a pain.

Have you tried replacing the (CR2032) batteries in the remotes?

I'll second that!

Yep, all batteries in the remotes have been changed.

Even the red light next to the buttons in the remote control with the key comes on when you press the button.

im experiencing some "bugs", too... my case is , when i stop engine and pull off the key , normally interior lights turn on, but since a month, there is 10-15 sec. delay to lights turn on (if dont open the door). at the same time i cant lock using the remote.. i must wait the same 10-15 secs. after that everything is normal, opening locking via the remote... any idea what can be the prob?
