Loose valve in engine bay TDI 140

Featured Replies

Picked up the Snow-monster yesterday evening, so did not get chance to have a real good look round until this morning. Discovered a loose valve (not sure of it's function) resting on the air induction pipe at the back of the engine.

Obviously missed on PDI and at the factory; main thing is that other Snow-monsters may be affected, so you might want to check yours.

Anyway it would appear the valve should have been attached to a metal bracket via an anti vibration mount (attached to the valve).

Looked like someone at some stage may have tried to push fit the valve onto the bracket on mine as there was slight damage to the vib mount.

To fit the valve I found that you had to remove the vib mount from the valve (10mm nut x2) disassemble the vib mount and reassemble it around the bracket. (Note: found silicon spray helpful in fitting metal bush into rubber grommet x2). Finally refit valve and adjust wiring harness to suit.

See attached photo's which will explain more.

That is a bit poor but it is a fault of slap happy PDI - should not have happened. A lesson to the rest of us.

I remember a colleague picking up his company car only to find that there was no water in the radiator - a new engine was the order of the day.

Hope everything else was OK and you are now enjoying the car.

The valve/solenoid is probably the "N75" which controls the movement of the vanes in the turbo via vacum. Sloppy to have missed that during PDI.. Good that you found and sorted it yourself! Did it make a rattle, or did you just see it when inspecting the engine bay?

Good illustration photos!

Did not get a good look when I picked it up, obviously I should but my excuse the weather conditions; getting dark fast and raining (not ideal when picking up a car).

So had a better look over this morning, picked the valve up almost straight away on lifting the bonnet but it may not have been obvious to everyone as it was tucked behind the induction pipe.

The dealer may have rushed PDI, had a lot of cars going out that day; think they were trying to get as many out as possible before things grind to a halt while Skoda introduce this new tracking/delivery system.
