no more intermittent wipers, or is it?

Featured Replies

WEll, my intermittent wipers are behavinh oddly.

After years of always working properly, learning time delays (yes i checked this), it seems to be acting up now.

If the wipers are off, and i pop it on to intermittent setting. I immediately get 1 wipe, but no more. I tested this by timing it for over an hour, and it didnt wipe again without me pushing it up to a constant speed setting.

HOWEVER - (and now for the weird part)

If i go to constant speed wiping, and back down to intermittent, they work as expected, and will even learn and remember a new delay time.

can anyone explain this and give me a pointer?

BTW, i have pulled the battery overnight - no effect

I have also pulled, checked and contact cleaned the wiper relay. No effect

Where is the intermittent control circuit?

In the relay. Time for a new one?

Yeah it's the big tall relay in the fusebox. There are two types. A programmable one, and a set intermittent one.

cool, thanks for the info guys. anybody know how much replacements are? i cannot imagine they are too expensive

Short out the bonnet switch and see how you get on :)

it doesn't have a bonnet switch iirc, the new relay for intermittent delay is about £25 from the dealer iirc, or free from a scrapyard if you are wearing the right pants
