Vrs daytime running lights

Featured Replies

Hello,

Does anyone know if you can "flash" the daytime running lights on the new VRs?

All the videos on You Tube show the car with the lights being blinked on and off.

I have ordered one and the local dealer was unsure how this works.

I tried to do it on the demonstrator but had no luck

cheers

Oh does anyone have pics of the new VRs in black?

Hve ordered this colour but havem't seen one

I have it in black and it looks gorgeous!!

On the flashing front the only way i can do it is by putting the lights on and off and tbh, it looks poo doing it that way.

The flashing is caused by the video format not filming fast enough. LED's work by emitting pulses so fast that the human eye can't see it. Film it, and it picks up the pulsing. You can't flash the DRL's.

Thanks..

You haven't got a few pics by any chance???

Nice choice of car- wasn't sure of the car until i saw it and drove it.

Just superb- what an engine

Thanks for that.

A wee bit confused though.

Have a look at this video on You Tube.

It clearly shows the lights flashing- definitely not due to camera frame rate etc

See what you think

As discussed it is probably the video frame rate. You can also see the effect when the wheels look stationary, or in fact look like they are going backwards. Some camera have a variable frame rate so that they can play around with the various effects.

It would get you pulled:cool:

Having said that it would be a lane clearer to get home before the tea was in the dog!

I've seen this on quite a few "European" promo films-sounds dodgy and on 1 Australian promo.

Do you think Skoda UK have "disabled" this due to looking like the Traffic cops?

I can't imagine any reason why Skoda would add this as a function  and if you watch the video closely they are flashing randomly, alternate then in sync sometimes, which does suggest the format of video. If it was an option I'm certain plod would be none to impressed (although it would get other road users out of the way if you were in a black or white RS estate)

It is possible to special order (not in this country though) spec any VAG car with a special equipment control unit version. This is basically for government, diplomat, police and other 'special forces' use only and has to be verified by the relevant party when the order is placed. These can only be ordered via the main importer, ie Skoda Germany, Skoda Czech etc etc. Along with the special function control unit, you get OE switches for roof lights, sirens etc. Part numbers are on ETKA, but you will need to order via chassis number and if the chassis number is not on the Specials list, the order will not be processed. As this car is a 'press' car, it may have the control unit fitted.

Hope this clears it all up...
