MAF Sensor

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the MAF Sensor Part number for the PD130 engine for the Fabia VRS?

Done some reading online and it mentions the symptoms of MAF Failure and i have more or less all the symptoms. So need the part number so i can get a new one. Looking on ebay it has this one

AUDI SEAT VW 1.9 2.5 TDI AIR FLOW SENSOR MAF PROMO on eBay (end time 24-Nov-09 09:27:43 GMT)

Would this one be any good to me? All it lists is the lower bhp engines no mention of the 130 bhp compatability

Any help appreciated

Many thanks

Does it drive different with the MAF unplugged?

Haven't tried it tbh. Can't figure the plug out lol

There's a small clip on the underside of the plug, Push the plug inwards to relieve pressure on the clip press to disengage and remove! Sounds simple does it? You'll still hurt yourself taking it off:thumbdwn:

I wouldn't bother with an ebay MAF if I was you. They tend to be made from plasticine and fuse wire, hence the AMAZING price.

It's worth paying the extra for an OEM part, but that's just my opinion and not the law :D

And regarding the clip, it took me about half an hour to work it out, so good luck :rotz:

Tbh i'm skint so if that one fits and works for a while till i'm back on my feet thats all i want. Although i work for a garage so if i can get the part number i'm gonna see how much a genuine vw one is with my discount

I'll try dis connecting it at lunch time then take the car a run

Yea, take it off and have a drive down the road, if the MAF is sha**ed then it won't drive any different, but if it's ok you will notice it straight away as it will have no go in it at all.

If it's OK, you can get some silicone grease (not sealer) from say Maplin or Halfords and give the plug a decent layer over the holes and then plug it back in. I did that and it did make a difference.

The MAF got wet due to the coolant leak i had. My maf is in a different position from factory due to my bmc

It was a pipe that sits right next to the maf that burst spraying water everywhere including into the intake system so the internal sensor got wet and has damaged it. No other damage is done as turbo still spools fine and throttle body operates as it should

Having busted the clip getting mine off, it's surface tension from said silicon grease that holds mine in place!

Having disconnected the maf the car drove worse with no turbo what so ever

Plugged the maf back in and the cars back to how it was. Turbo starts to spool at 2100 by 2500 it's flying. Boosting around 18psi according to my guage

It's actually putting u in ur seat again with a feel of power. So god knows what was up with the maf but i'm going to replace it anyways and buy some throttle and intake cleaner

Try www.eurocarparts.com on line, just enter your reg. no and will give you the part no and price. if not just phone them. They are all OE parts.

Hope you get it sorted and start to enjoy the car once again. Nowt worse than an issue you can't resolve or worse still, intermittent fault.

Let's know if you notice any difference after you've fitted the new MAF.

My car has been driving like a sdi last 2days. Poor acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear. No turbo kick in 1st gear and in 2nd gear its kicking in at 2800revs! I unplugged my MAF sensor and my car drives much better. what does this mean?

Silly question. Can i leave it unplugged?

With the Maf unplugged the car is running from the Ecu's base map & not using the Inputs from the maf sensor, So it is more likely that your maf is giving incorrect information to the Ecu, It could get better with a clean, Try it 1st & if it gets better (plugged in of course) your on the right path... ;)Not the best idea to run indefinately with the Maf unplugged, after all it is there for a Reason.

Cheers
