Changes to 1.6 engine?

Featured Replies

The test drive of the Fabia Scout on Auto.CZ mentions that the engine is based on the 1.6FSI and has variable valve timing.

The engine bay also looks (slightly) different in layout to the one in my 2007 Roomster Scout 1.6. Is this a new "evo" of the 1.6 engine?

1.6 FSI isnt a new engine, been around for ages in other cars. Probably the 115BHP one. Maybe they will bodge it into the facelift fabia as an excuse for not having any tsi engines

The article isn't saying it is the FSI, just that the engine is based on it (same block but no direct injection?)

Anyway, for the facelift Fabia I am expecting the 1.2TSI to replace the 1.6. Would take the **** a bit if they're not allowed that engine since it is designed and built by Skoda themselves!

I think your confusing the 1.2 3-cyl engine which was designed by Skoda (12v head by VW) with the 4 cyl 1.2Tsi which is a new design by VW and built by VW AFAIK

No, the 1.2TSI is Skoda's too, they are in charge of small engines :)

As for the Greek cars, they are chipped by the Greek importer and sold as sporty editions.

The 1.6 in the Fabia has the same capacity and torque as the discontinued 1.6fsi with 115PS (ex Octavia, Golf etc), so i assume uses the same block. What is curious is that a quite different, weaker and I think older 1.6 engine is used in the Octavia, Golf and Leon. Does anyone know why?

I noticed the revised Golf estate will also use the new 1.2tsi, so it can only be a matter of time as said above, that this replaces all 1.6s I would think
