Temperature warning light from cold start

Featured Replies

Had a weird one this morning, got in to the car first thing and started the engine, straight away the temperature warning light started flashing on the dash along with 3 or 4 loud beeps. The beeps stopped but the light continued flashing for the whole journey. Turned the engine off and then back on again when I got to work, this time there was not warning. Anyone else had this? Does it sound like there is a problem or is it just a sensor playing silly watsits?

Normally the light comes on when the level in the header tank drops too low, but this happens due to the sender getting corroded and sending a duff signal to the car, best option here is to go to the dealers and get a new expansion tank for a tenner and fit it as it can't be opened to repair it.

Mine used to do it in the cold weather so I just changed it and it's fine now.

HTH,

Ben

Mine does this too. i'vee added it onto the list of things for them to fix at the next service.

Ste

About that, ex-VAT. You should see change from 12 quid... Having said this, at least one factor is out of stock - probably for this very reason... :(
