Just Installed OEM Bluetooth

Featured Replies

I have just installed the OEM bluetooth in our new FL Octavia VRS after getting some good info and links off these forums. I thought I would share my experience as it may help others wnating to take this route.

I ordered 1Z0 035 729C version from Poland off Ebay (took 5 days to arrive) after debating which version to get - I followed the advice given here

You do get the plug and play harness but not the mounting bracket or cover but I have purchased these parts form the dealer including mounting screws and clips for around £8. You can just velcro the unit to the carpet under the seat of course which is what I have at the moment while I wait for the bracket to come in. Note that the cable form the bluetooth unit to the plug and play harness is technically not CAN bus compliant but you can by 10m of CAN bus cable for about £10 from the dealer - I didn't bother for the time being as it works fine without.

Straight out of the box with no coding my HTC Touch Diamond and Nokia N79 work with this system. I can bring up contacts and call lists on the Bolero but not on the MFD.

The car has been coded at the dealers today so the phone can be brought up on the MFD, 1/2 hour labour, so could be worse!

I have just ordered the same.

Apparently this one works with IPhone also, if you know anyone with a handset, you could always check............

Works a treat with a 3GS!

Can anyone explain why this particular OEM Bluetooth kit (1Z0 035 729C) would work with an iPhone 3Gs? I can only think of one of two scenarios:

1. The 3Gs supports the bluetooth rSAP protocol (previous iPhone models certainly didn't).

2. The OEM Bluetooth kit (1Z0 035 729C) now supports the standard Bluetooth Hands Free protocol (HFP) in addition to (or instead of) rSAP.

It's getting crunch time for placing my Scout order and I am still none the wiser what Bluetooth option to go for.

No iPhones support rSAP.

1Z0 035 729C must be the earlier non-rSAP unit if it works with the iPhone. I guess its not the version fitted to current production models which is of course rSAP only (dont know its part number though.)

Have you got the part numbers for the bracket cover and screws?

Thanks
