vRS Emissions warning light

Featured Replies

The emissions warning light keeps intermittently coming on for a couple of days then goes off again. Car drives fine and I can't detect any difference.

It's a tad overdue for a service, but doesn't do many miles. It's just ticked over 21k, and it's done 3.5k since the last service.

Any ideas?

Has the car been scanned for fault codes?

Get it scanned by someone with VCDS, or falling that take it for a service and there'll do it for you and report back any problems

Not yet.

At the risk of getting flamed it was due a service in June and ... well I've not got around to it yet. Skoda advised it was due a cambelt change after they revised the schedule without informing the owners :thumbdwn:.

Unfortunately I failed to locate £550 down the back of the sofa.

Possible EGR?

Running a Turbo Diesel 5 months beyond a service is a very bad idea, and could cost you bucket loads of cash. An indy will do the cambelt for £250.

if your close to Chester , i could throw VAGCOM on it to check the codes

Yeah, I know. In my defence I've only done 3.5k in the last 18 months, under 1k since it was due. If I was doing anywhere near average miles and depended on it to get to work then I'd be more concerned.

The £550 was for the 4 year/40k service plus the cambelt. I've yet to find a local independent I'd trust with the PD. Spoke to a couple of local ones I used before, and they didn't have a clue that PDs need specific oil.

Thanks for the offer ric04vrs, I'm in South Manchester so it's a bit of a trek down the M56.

Time for a Thread resurrection....

Finally got it's service today ... just a little late (@22.5k). 40k/4 year service, cambelt + tensioner and the water pump while it was all in pieces.

Diagnostics said the emissions light was down to a intermittently dodgy coolant temp sensor. Dealer kindly replaced it gratis.

Seems a VAG weak point - my Mk4 Bora ate two in 4 years. Must be made out of cheese...
