Park Assist - Retro-fittable on an Octavia?

Featured Replies

Yes

I did this last week :D

The hardest part by far is getting to the CAN Gateway tucked up high behind the Steering Wheel - my hand still scratched

Hi. Got kit today. Do you have a photos how you run cables ? Or at least can you draw small diagram? Because location of CAN-GW on RHD cars are different to LHD (as far as I am understand) ?

Yes , I do have RHD car. Your link explains a lot. But for me is still a question - how to to run wiring loom from front sensors to the cabin ? Is there some rubber sealed holes under the glove box ?

Yes in passenger footwell you need to take glovebox out and there is a loom going through to engine bay already I passed mine through this hole.

The Park assist if fully retrofittable but only on a car with ESP.

Not quite the case as mine has ESP and I tried retro fitting it, however, it could not comunicate with abs module. Maxidot would just come up with park assist fault when i pushed the park assist button. I tried 2 different park assist modules both had same problem talking to ABS.

VCDS showed the fault as;

Olly my car is a newest MY11 vRS CR and I never saw this fault

I fitted a 1Z0 919 475 B

perhaps your " D " version needs a different type ABS module for the "Self Parking System" you get in VW's ( just a guess )

Have you fitted OPS or park assist? OPS is optical parking sensors. Park Assist is the self parallel parking.

I have the OPS working fine with front and rear sensors thats with 1Z0 919 475 C unit but then i wired in park assist and changed the unit to a 1T0 919 475 D and had problem with abs unit so tried 1T0 919 475 H still wont communicate with abs. So short of changing my abs unit i'm not sure how to get it working.

Do not forget , Park assist needs 6 front sensors

Do not forget , Park assist needs 6 front sensors

I have the additional 2 front sensors, again the problem was with it communicating with the abs module.

  • 1 year later...

Tried this on my car

got the same fault, after more research there are only a small number of ABS Pumps that support the feature

They are

1K0 907 379 BJ, BL, BE, AT, AJ

all others don't support it
