strange light problem

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 54 plate vrs and the other night I watched it being backed down the drive.

As the wheels moved from the centre, the light bulbs dimmed almost as if the altenator was not working correctly. Once the wheels stopped being turned left and right light ressumed, even if wheels were not straight.

Checked all the belts etc all ok. Wanted to check power steerring fluid but cannot access the top due to the battery position - just who thought of that:thumbdwn:

Anybody else had a similar problem or any ideas.

Brian

yeah, the fabia uses an electric power steering pump rather than a belt driven one, i wouldn't worry about it to be honest especially if it was as the engine had just been started, but it could be a pre-warning that the battery is getting knackered in this colder weather

Normal to some degree, the PAS pump takes as much as 60Amps. If it's really bad, a new battery will be the answer.

Mines been doing this for the last 2 and a half years, normal for electric power steering.

I only noticed that mine started doing the same thing recently.

Only really noticable when it gets dark earlier, maybe?

Possibly, though I'm sure I'd remember if it had done it before. Might be the colder weather affecting the battery...

They all do it to some degree, my old Ibiza used to do it! Same engine etc
