V-Flow Air filter

Featured Replies

Just got my EVOMS, it has been used and the filter needs cleaning, question is, do I need to oil the filter?

The Evoms website states the following:

"Replacement Synthamax filter for the V-Flow intake system. The Synthamax filter combines the best of both worlds; superior filtration of an oiled filter without the fear of MAF issues like a dry filter".

I've tried emailing them but I've had no joy!

If its the dark red pleated type then yes, they do need oiling. They are basically the same as K&N. Get yourself a cleaning kit of EBAY (e.g. the K&N type). Spray on the cleaner, let it soak for 10 minutes and then dry off. Then put on the oil and let it soak in for 20 minutes. reaoil any dry areas and refit it to the car.

Thanks, it is a very pale pink colour, I think the description of the evoms site is a bit confusing. Any ideas where I can get a replacement filter? I think it would good to have a back up.

I reckon one of the K&N ones might fit. Take some measurements. If you source one from EVOMS it will be mega-expensive.

EVOMS fitted, quite a challenge, blood, sweat and tears, literally! Butterfly stitches in the head thanks to a stubborn turbo inlet hose. Anyway, first impressions, very happy. The car feels completely different, more responsive and pulls harder especially at the top end of the rev range, as advised, the Angel remap has adapted beautifully. :D

Although I'm still suffering a rough idle (as detailed in another thread) but my mechanic thinks it’s a diaphragm in the crank housing....????

I haven't installed the engine cover yet, as it goes into the garage next week to sort the idle problem, fingers crossed. But once this is on and the engine cleaned I will chuck a few pictures on.

That turbo inlet pipe is a mare

Even when I managed to get the right tool to keep the clampy thing open, the pipe was really awkward to get off.

Lots of swearing from my installation also :)

Tell me about it!? I tried everything to pinch up the fixing, in the end I used a small sash cramp, it was that bloody thing that ****ed me in the head when the pipe finally gave up.....

Just been out for a wee blast with swmbo and the kids, she says to me "whats that stupid noise" I explained it in a way my 5 year old understand, but still nothing from her!! :(

Sounds about right.

The response I usually get when demonstrating is 'You actually paid for that??' especially for noise related items.

I'm actually glad I never fitted the blow off spacer I bought of Si - that wouldn't have been an easy demo :)

Previously I have cleaned mine with plenty of very hot water and the Oxy action powder.

Yes you will need to re-oil it afterwards.

Mate, I've covered my tracks in such a big way over this, as you know, I got the evoms from ebay, but I did the deal witht the guy through texts and emails! so she wouldn't see that I had won the item when she checked our account. Even though I only paid 180 sheets instead of the 400+, she'd go ballastic, to give you an idea, I told her the remap cost 80 quid, she didn't talk to me for a week! bloody women, I should of married Vicky Butler-Henderson!!

I've been fairly honest up to this point, but there's no way on earth SWMBO is going to be privvy to how much this damn pump is going to cost.

I can picture the conversation now.

"it will let me load my stage2+ map on so I'll get more torque lower down the rev range"

Let the saucepans fly ;)

Someone help me out here!?

My EVOMS came with the replacement engine cover, to create the OEM look under the bonnet I need to use my old engine cover insert, so, how to fix it? tried a grippa fill type adhesive over night, just been to check and it didn't work, took 20 bloody minutes to get the residue off though!!

That one it the link has had carbon-fibre foil stuck on it - looks nice!

To fix the silver strip on use double-sided tape (from B&Q or Wilkinsons) or use some rapid epoxy glue. Anything you use has to be temperature resistant up to 80 degrees or more.

Decided to bolt it, just a couple of M6 flat pan bolts, they hardly notice and I'm guaranteed not to shake it loose whilst driving.

What a bunch of wusses. I should get yourselves to the doctors and get your testosterone level checked. I just buy the stuff and tell my wife how much it costs (if she asks, which she normally doesn't) - no arguments. I wear the trousers in our house.

you lie, lol, you lie.

I'll do a swap....

To add a question to this thread, I need to remove my filter to give it a refresh, when it comes to this do I take it off at the first join (if going from the filter end) - the one on the right hand side of the 3inch coupler before the MAF?

Is it an EVOMS? if so, based on the recent fitting experience, I would say it would be easiest to remove the coupling to the right of the MAF (when looking from the front) then remove this part to gain access to the filter. As trying to get the filter out independently of the system would be a nightmare based!

HTH

Yes it is an EVOMS and that was the join I was trying to hint at. Cheers

Bit off topic but moox i see you have the powerflex torque arm insert, is it any good?
