Chrome Valve Caps have been nicked

Featured Replies

Some cheeky little street urchin / crack fiend  has nicked my lovely valve caps off my wheels from my LE, anyone got a link to where to buy them (cheaply lads ). Funnily enough I recall being told a few months ago they would be nicked and it has happened.

Dont bother they will just steal them again :(.

I'd agree with that and say just buy some cheapo black plastic ones....however, having said that, I even had 2 of those stolen off my car. I think some little oiks needed them for their bikes

I know but I had grown very attached to them, even cleaning each one when doing the wheels. Sad I know.

Here they were, god I miss them, they will be on a wee scrotes bmx tonight!

i know how you feel, it happened to me as well. The thing that ****es me of is that no one seems to stock them caps, even skoda turned me away

I get mine nicked so don’t bother with them any more. The nice ppl at the garage put new ones one when ever the car sees them, but I would never pay for them again.

The Beemer ones are actually very cheap Lady E (circa 10p each IIRC? - check with David next time you're in!), but agree - no point, they'll only disappear again. I stopped fitting nice ones ages ago...

Again, just fit normal ones...

They are free from David Holmes, the nice chaps that they are.

Yeah, usually only when it's in for something else - or do you go cap in hand to the Parts Dept?

I would be careful with those Richbrook types too, that you don't find they've seized on when you most need to get the cap off :(

I have a friendly and forlorn look, so they take pity on me

Hi steve, ive not had a problem with them as of yet.

But then again they do tend to come off at least once a month if not twice to check the pressures.

Maybe a little copper slip would stop them from seizing on?

Mine were nicked at a Briskoda meet.

Simple solution - don't bother.

You could do, but for me it comes down to an issue of effort vs. results :)

As lockable valve caps are notorious for seizing, I'd suggest weekly checking of tyre pressures. At the same time, it would be prudent to check fluid levels, especially the washer bottle level where consumption can increase in the winter months.

There is a seller on eBay with good quality steel valve caps. They are distinctive from BMW/Mercedes caps and reasonably priced.

Alternatively, consider some military spec 'No-Loss' metal caps which have a strong nylon tether which attaches to the valve stem. I was given a set when I bought a Viair compressor and I've fitted them to my Hymer's valves.

I had the lockable ones on my car, so the little sh!ts nicked the wheels instead.......

I kept 'losing' 2 at a time, I wonder where they were being used?? Agree with the multitude, stick with the black plastic ones mate.

Hi,

I had an incredible amount of hassle trying to get these from my local dealer who said they did not supply them as it was a part from bbs not Skoda. Spoke to Skoda customer service and another dealer and they gave me the part number. Advised me cost at 98p each inc vat, part number ZGB1Z0071492. Didnt bother going ahead with them as I just knew they were likely to get nicked and I dont want to attract little grubby hands going round the car pilfering bits. Would rather just have plastic and not attract the attention that these things bring. In a perfect world yes but you have to leave your car sometime!

Guys the Max Racing Tyre caps arrived today, not too shabby for £1.99 for 4 of them, I ordered 4 sets in total with free postage, I wonder how long before I need to replace them again!

£1 each at kwik fit and tighten them up with a small spanner (remember to keep it in your car). Have some on my Seat and the buggers havent been able to get them off, or ive just been lucky.

Are these caps the same that came withe Limited edition wheels, also if i walk into skoda part and show them the part number ZGB1Z0071492 they will be able to order them?

Kwik Fit once put these on my wheels on my old car (without asking me AND charging me the sneaky gits) but suffice it to say they were gone within about a week...

Ive had my chrome valve caps and stems on my car since new, they are still there. I suppose it depends where you park...They look MUCH nicer that standard and are only £5 from eBay!
