Firstly you need the SKC (Secret Key Code) this is a 4 digit (7 digit on newer cars) code that is needed to code the key to the immobilizer, this can be obtained by either a dealer or someone with VAG-Tacho.

Open your current key (it's exactly the same as the VW keys) and find out the part No. and frequency of your key, look on eBay and get buy one that is the same.

Then you need to get the key blank laser cut by your local locksmith.

Lastly and the most important bit you need a new transponder so it can be coded to your immobilizer (these can only be coded once so a new un-coder transponder in needed). These are available from hickley's (phone them up, and they will tell you the one you need). Don't be fooled into the eBay keys that state "new / unused" etc key, if the remote has been matched to a car previously then you need a new transponder!

Once you have all of the above you need a friendly VCDS owner (look in the VAG-COM owners map for the one closest to you) to code the new transponder to the car, total cost can be less than £50.

As for the radio they are all coded, this can be turned on and off (look in the manual to see how) the cars ECU should remember the code - however mine decided one day to suddenly forget it!
