Have a friend with a Golf Mk5 asking about this. Are there adjustable settings anywhere for this?

My old Mk5 2.0 GT TDi used the same stalk as the present Octavia so the adjustment is on the top and can be set in one of three positions. HTH

Thats what the switch on the stalk adjusts, the parameters for the auto wipers. If your friend is having issues, then get them to clean the screen properly. Traffic film causes smearing which in turn causes the wipers to think its raining harder than it really is. If the screen is clear, then try some new wiper blades.

Thanks, but I think we're actually talking about the parameters that control each notch on the adjustability switch.

In any case, I think I need to see the issue for myself, to understand exactly what's going on. I have a feeling that something's being lost in translation!

Check no glass polish or rainx is being used. This makes the sensor go ape.

It's a 58-plate Pirelli, so doubt any of the above; will check though.

Interesting you mentioning products on the screen though, is that a VAG sensor peculiarity do you know? Just that a friend with a Mini Cooper polished the glass and applied Aquapel the other month, and his auto wipers work faultlessly.

Could be a result of the sensor angle. VAG seem to be at an angle to the glass, where as many others are an almost perfect 90 degrees to the glass.
